A.我國素稱禮儀之邦,其重視禮節(jié)程度不亞于歐美任何一國。但是由于中西風(fēng)俗習(xí)慣有很大的差異,如果我們對此不了解,在與英美人進(jìn)行交往時,就會引起對方的誤會,發(fā)生不必要的誤解。這里我僅把英美人在問候、告辭和稱呼上的禮節(jié)習(xí)慣介紹給大家,以便有助于大家的英語學(xué)習(xí)和同外國朋友的交往。
一、 Greetings 問候
我們中國人見面打招呼時習(xí)慣說:您吃過了嗎?(Have you eaten? / Have you had your meal?)或者說:您上哪去?(Where are you going? )。而英美人見面時如果是上午則說:Good morning. 如果是在下午則說:Good afternoon, 在傍晚就說:Good evening. 如果與熟人打招呼則說:How are you? 如果是與較熟的人或朋友打招呼則說:Hello, 或Hi. 如果用我們中國人見面打招呼時常說的"Have you eaten?"去問候英美人,就會引起對方的誤解,因?yàn)?quot;Have you eaten?"在英語里不是打招呼用語,而是"邀請對方去吃飯"。如果見到英美人時說:"Where are you
going?"他們會很轉(zhuǎn)不高興。因?yàn)?quot;Where are you going?"對英美人來說則是"即干涉別人的私事。"
A.二、 Parting 告辭
到別人家串門或作客,告辭時,英美人習(xí)慣說:"I should go now." 或 " I'd better be going now."意思都是"我得走了"。英美人在告辭時從不說:"I'll go back."(我回去了。)或"I'll go first."(我先走了。)因?yàn)樵谟⒄Z里, "I'll go first."的意思是:"時間不早了,客人們該離開了。我先走給大家起了頭,其他客人也應(yīng)該馬上離去。"
B.三、 Addressing People 稱呼
平時,我們常聽到學(xué)生稱呼老師為"Teacher Wang"(王老師),"Teacher Li"(李老師),即便對外籍教師也是如此稱呼。其實(shí)這是不符合英美人習(xí)慣的。在英語中,"teacher"不能用于稱呼。那么怎么來稱呼老師才符合英語習(xí)慣呢?一般來說,英美人稱呼中小學(xué)的男老師為"Sir",或Mr,女教師為"Miss",如 Mr wang Mizhang MiGreen
